Positive Action
Hello Resident
We have been working hard in the areas of Tonyrefail and Gilfach Goch targeting persons who are targeting our local shops and repeatedly committing theft offences. These types of offences are often seen as petty crime however we recognise the impact crimes such as these have on local businesses, particularly for smaller, independant local vendors.
Recently officers have arrested a male in connection with a number of theft offences in the area. The person in question has appeared at court this week and has been sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment.
We would like to extend our thanks to the staff at the local stores who work so hard to assist us in the detection of this type of crime.
We would also like to extend our thanks to the Chamber of Trade in Tonyrefail who have been so helpful in assisting this cause, particularly when it comes to CCTV enquiries. The work the Chamber have done to improve security in the town is continuing to prove invaluable in the detection of local crime.
Thank you for your help. It is only by the police and the public working together that we can prevent and detect crime. Do you need to speak to the police but don’t require an emergency response? You can make an online report via our website https://www.south-wales.police.uk, send us a private message via Live Chat, or call 101. In an emergency always dial 999.
